Ductless Air Conditioner

Homes which do not have duct work, for them it can be quite expensive to opt for central air conditioners. This is because setting up of the duct work itself is a cumbersome and costly process. In such cases, the best option is the ductless air conditioners. Ductless systems are installed high on walls in homes, offices or restaurants. However, like the central air conditioners, the ductless system also has two units, the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The outdoor unit comprises the compressor and the condenser while the indoor unit has the air handling unit. A conduit that houses the power cable, the refrigerant tubing, suction tubing and the condensate drains links the outdoor unit with the indoor unit.

After the installation is completed successfully a ductless air conditioner works in a similar fashion to that of a central air conditioner. The difference is that it works without the duct work and the additional units that needs to be installed within the rooms in case of a central air conditioner. The outdoor compressor unit pumps and cools the system’s refrigerant through the copper lines to the indoor unit. The fan inside the unit turns on and distributes the cool air throughout the room. As cooler air is heavier than warm air, the cold air drops down and the warm air rises above.

The warm air comes out through the inside unit and it gets removed along with condensation that gets collected in the compressor with the copper tubes.

Ductless air conditioners have several advantages over the window as well as the central air conditioners.

The main advantage of ductless air conditioners is that they offer flexible solutions. This means due to their smaller size, installing them does not take up a huge space in your room. Moreover, they have the facility of zoning which means individual rooms or spaces can be heated or cooled as per requirement.

Secondly, ductless air conditioners allow you cost savings. This is because they use lesser electricity than the traditional systems of air conditioners and as the cooling is transferred directly to a room, hardly there is any loss of efficiency.

Ductless air conditioners provide drastically clean air inside the rooms. This becomes possible because they offer multi-stage filtration to the air when it passes through it. As a result, the air that you breathe in is free from dust, allergens, bacteria and pollen

Another great advantage of ductless air conditioners is that they are easy to install and the entire task can be completed in day.

As ductless air conditioners has the flexibility of zoning and as they follow the Energy Star Guidelines, the amount of energy wasted is very less. Thus, these systems are more energy efficient, reducing the instance of carbon footprint in the process.

Similarly, there are some disadvantages of the ductless air conditioners as well. The cost of these systems is higher than that of window and portable air conditioners. Secondly, it might be quite difficult to find a qualified installer to install the ductless air conditioners.
